The Mayor and Board of Aldermen have selected Dr. Richard Asbill as the next City Administrator for the City of Cassville replacing Steve Walensky, who has retired. Dr. Asbill will step into the role July 1, 2024, following his retirement as school superintendent for the Bolivar School District.

The Mayor and Aldermen met Thursday, March 21 and chose Asbill from the applications received. Council spent the last several meetings reviewing the resumes and qualifications of the applicants and discussing the future needs of the City of Cassville and came to the decision that Dr. Asbill’s qualifications and background made him the best choice for the City Administrator position. We are pleased to have Dr. Asbill accept the position and look forward to working with him as we continue to improve our City and serve the citizens of Cassville.

Dr. Asbill, his wife, Kari, and son, Sawyer, are certainly not strangers to Cassville, and will be returning home.  “I am thankful for the opportunity to return to Cassville and work with a great team of people serving the City of Cassville.” Asbill said. “I understand the responsibilities of service and working for taxpayers to ensure our resources are used effectively and we meet the needs of our patrons, businesses, and visitors.  My family is honored to return home and get to work for the friends and neighbors of Cassville.”

Richard has served in the education field for over 29 years, with 23 years in an administrative position. Asbill’s experience in fiscal responsibility and planning, budgeting with respect for allocating taxpayer resources, and his desire to see the community grow and succeed will serve the City well in making Cassville the place to live, work and play.
